Default Handheld chess game / trainer

Could anyone recommend an electronic handheld chess game for an eight year old? Or even a board game sized one?

He has a full understanding of the rules, but needs more work on tactics. His appetite for games has outstripped his parents available time. I would rather not get a DS - type handheld that could be used for less profitable gameplay!

Hi,

The Saitek range is quite good.
CM2013 Saitek Travel Chess Computer
CM2001 Saitek Advanced Travel Chess Computer
CM2006 Saitek Kasparov Maestro Travel Chess Computer
CM2010 Saitek Kasparov Expert Chess Computer

Generally the elo is 1300-2000 on these, depending on the model you get. I own the CM2010 - it is bigger than a "handheld" although it is still very portable - the others listed are handhelds.

Regards.
