I came with this idea for a program during a conversation with Firegoat7. It's a program where you enter the URL for a live board (eg. http://www.boxhillchess.org.au/live/tfd.swf) and it will display the board and the moves being played in the upper half of the screen. In the bottom half, there is a "chat room" where users can connect and discuss the live games in progress.
At the moment, I have developed a prototype for the program as seen below: ![]() I'm trying to gauge the level of public interest to see if it is worth completing. If users plan on using it for MCC/BHCC/Norths chess club live games, then I will finish the program and update it regularly. So what are your opinions, are you willing to use it? |

I think it would be a wonderful thing to have!

Looks very good.
Did Yahoo! have a similar set up in their online games section?

I only know VB.net, some very basic C++ and by the end of the semester I'll have a good understanding of JAVA. As such I again am unsure whether I'd be able to code a plugin application. The easiest solution is to make a program in vb.net (what I posted above) with it's own chat server and an area to display the DGT screen. |

Maybe. If I do do it, it will be in java (which I'm currently learning at university). If I do make it, it won't be for a few more months. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

I should probably mention why I'm doing it in java and not vb.Net as I previously intended...
If I do it in java, you may be able to embed a page for it on the forum. Pretty much like how the pgn viewers are on the page, notice java needs to load the application before you can look through the game. |
