Default Battle Chess

I remember learning to play chess on Nintendo's Battle Chess game, many many years ago.

When you captured a piece they would have a little fight sequence, which were usually hilarious.

I can honestly say that game made me a fan of chess.

Who else has played Battle Chess, I think it was also released for the PC.

I have this on my "portable media player". It takes far too long for the computer to make moves though, and the battle scene when a piece capture takes place is pretty annoying >_>

When I was first learning how to play I thought it was cool to see the pieces fight, but as I got older and understood the game more the slow moving pieces and long battle scenes did get old.

I think there is a setting that allows you to play straight up chess with non-animated pieces.
