Default Favorite chess websites

There are quite a few out there, but I like chesshere.com. They have a good community of players with all levels of experience.

I've been to other sites, but most of them just have you play a server on various levels.

Does anyone know of any other sites with real players?

In terms of free ones FICS (free internet chess server) is surely the best.
However, if you are prepared to pay then you can't go past ICC (internet chess club) which would be easily the best.

Hope this helps.

I love Play chess online, free! - ChessFriends.com it is web based, like chess.com, but is more focused on online playing, really nice statistics, fast, realtime, etc.... I think this server will rock in near future.

Hi,

As mentioned chess.com is good - you can play "live games" for free.
ChessCube also allows "live games" for free - they have a membership option but it is not necessary.

Regards.
