Default Gameloft ChessMaster

I have been using this old software for years on different phones and really hadn't noticed this big error on the Chessmaster Start up screen.
Gamelofts ChessMaster for mobiles is proof enough you don't need to know how to spell in order to create great Chess Software

Here is a Pic of it on my N95:

LOL

Perhaps they forgot to put a picture of mother teresa below the text or there was no room for an additional "S".

I must admit I didn't see the misspelling at first. It is weird how your brain automatically corrects the image that gets interpreted. Also most if not all software developers are left-brained so this is likely what has happened here. It is funny how that misspelling has gone unnoticed by several people developing the game and then get into the people's phones.

The new version is fixed They obviously picked up the error.

The mobile version is actually quite well done. The AI from the amateur level onwards is quite a challenge and not too predictable. Well worth having on your phone.

AI is probably most important when it comes to a chess simulator. Since phones have little processing power, I imagine it must have been quite challenging for the developers to make the AI. Then again I doubt they made it from scratch. They probably took most, if not all AI from the PC version and modified it a little.

I guess it would be lots worse if it was the opposite - AI sucks, but the spelling is ok.

It is a clever idea however, the question is how strong it will be running on a Nokia.

The n95 has a 332 mhz dual processor.
With the Chessmaster software, you can allocate the amount of time the AI has before it makes a move, Even set to a minute, it is almost instant on this nokia over my last one.

I remember playing Battlechess on my 20mhz 186 with a CGA monitor all those years a go

Okay, but how strong in terms of chess rating? I am guess just over 2000. Do you think maybe it could be higher? I guess there is the possibility that they haven't rated this program yet.

If you have the Nokia E62, you can download this here:

ChessMaster_NOKIA_E62_EN_IGP_102.jar

I have attached a screen shot, ugly board - you would have to be pretty desperate to want to play of a small little screen like this I think.

The engine itself has a Elo rating of 2710. As for the difference in platforms I have no idea.

The DS game - Chessmaster: The Art of Learning, looks pretty good - may pick it up if it's on special some time.

A 2710 rated computer chess program for your mobile? No wonder cheating in toilets is becoming more common!

Well, I doubt any hand held would be rated that strongly, however, a 2500 FIDE might be the upper limit. In any event, cheaters never prosper!

Agreed even a 2500 on a phone might be pushing it..
