Well, maybe just famous for a day.. here are some other sites that have run the story, in some fashion or other:
ChessBase.com - Chess News - Female grandmaster wins Hamilton Rookies Shield! Steve Giddins' BCM blog: Tournament raider The Closet Grandmaster Lara Stock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Father and daughter play (and win) rookies tournament under false names : ChessVibes Doubleroo: Rookies Cup Raider All have a slightly different take on it. And chessbase didn't name the people, which chessvibes thought was silly. And Steve Giddins took a hard line. The story may appear in CHESS magazine (UK) some time soon as well. The Hamilton site has so far about 2000 (edit 10/3: 8000) hits for this story...750 from chessbase readers alone (and counting). Now if just a small fraction of that number came to Hamilton and played in some Hamilton events I would be happy.

Actually I toned it down from, "Kidnap them, kill them and then post the video on Youtube under the title "Chess cheats get pwned"."

That's what all the ladies at the Byron Bay retirement centre said, but AC denies it was him and says it was some other old grandpa.
![]() In any event, the young fresh out of university nurse was less than impressed, and shortly thereafter she embarked upon a new career - this time in office administration.
