John Surridge, Allan Menham and Patrick Byrom are all good people and I hope all 3 stay for a while.

That is a short list, Bill.

I bet there is a good reason why Bill has only named 3 out of 6.

I don't think you can say that. Maybe he only knows 3 out of the 6 and doesn't able to therefore say anything about the remaining 3. Your post is unfair if it suggests something else.

I agree. I fully support the new current CAQ council. However, Bill is entitled to his opinions - you can take whatever you like from them.

I am in full agreement with Bill concerning Garvin Gray. Garvin tries to do unauthorised and ridiculous things as a DOP, like that time he tried giving me a half point bye despite me being a top seed and only being 5 minutes late, and having pre-regisiered. I even showed Garvin the rule where he couldn't do this, and he then ignored that rule and tried doing it anyway.

Ian Murray had to give Garvin Gray on the job training and teach Garvin that this type of thing cannot be done, but Garvin still had difficulty learning how to apply the rules of chess fairly in that instance.

Default CAQ President Resigns

The resignation of John Surridge as President and Publicity officer, citing personal family reasons.
This now means that Garvin Gray takes over as President until the 2008 CAQ AGM in December.

Good luck Qld.

It would also mean that the CAQ council is now down to 5 members. Is that correct Rex?

I think you should ask Bill Powell to put his hand up and go back on CAQ council. When Bill is on council, it really starts to perform well. But when Howard Duggan was on council, numbers went down.

He might not be required. Certain people have a way of self destructing, all by themselves.
