1 FROM: KEVIN BONHAM SENT: FRIDAY, 26 NOVEMBER 2010 20:40
Subject: ACF Representation at Rotorua 27 January [2010] Dear ACF Exec, I am back after a few weeks offline; hope the meeting went well. I have received - and pass on as I do not know the answer - the following query from Paul Spiller: "Also, will the Australian Chess Federation be represented at the inaugural meeting of the Oceania Chess Confederation which will take place on January 27th in Rotorua. I seem to recall at the Oceania zonal meeting at Tweed Heads last year there was no official ACF representative present to give a report on Australian chess ?" Cheers, Kevin. |

In any event, it is embarrassing for the ACF. Why did they not send a representative to Tweed Heads to give a report? Perhaps they were too busy with their Chess Chat activities to actually do their job?

That had a good swimming pool in the Outriggers complex by the way, could have been a few metres longer mind you, I slipped through the control gate on ZYZ guest smart card, he was a paid up bod. Met Shirty there who confirmed he may star in a chess-themed short movie of strip transfer chess - but only as commentator he damanded. Otherwise all bananas |

Subject: Re: OCEANIA CHESS CONFEDERATION (OCC) Dear Tom and Colleagues If the ACF is to support this body, and I assume it will, my view is that there should be an ACF delegate, not just a proxy, at the meeting. Also I think that the ACF should have a person on the EB, if elected. This raises a question that also exists, though not pressed, with regard to our ACF delegate to the FIDE General Assembly, namely that of expenses. I think that the ACF delegate to both should have his or her expenses paid to a degree. I realise that this flows through to expenses of the Olympiad team though they do receive some assistance already from the Olympiad Appeal to which the ACF makes a contribution. Cheers Denis |

11 FROM: GARY WASTELL SENT: WEDNESDAY, 12 JANUARY 2011 11:08
Subject: Re: ACF and Oceania Chess Confederation (OCC) Dear fellow Executive members, In response to Tom’s invitation for comment re Garvin’s suggested additional inquiry: In my opinion, our agreed request for a statement of proposed benefits of membership is an adequate starting point. Nevertheless, I suggest we immediately invite all Councillors to convey queries, suggestions etc to the Executive so that, before departing, we can give Phil an idea of the matters we consider most suitable to raise at the meeting on January 27. A point being that answers Brian might care to offer at this stage could differ from answers the meeting might agree upon. For convenience, the request for States to comment could be accompanied by a copy of the previously distributed attachment, which those who did not attend the recent Conference might not yet have thought about sufficiently. Best, - Gary |
