Exclamation ACF Levies Payable By CV

One of those misconceptions is the nature of the relationship between the ACF and its affiliates of which CV is one. Whether CV is, or is not, a member of the ACF is wholly irrelevant. There is no doubt that CV is an ACF affiliate (see Despasquale v ACF per Gray J (Supreme Court of the ACT, 20 October 2000).

The ACF Constitution makes clear the relationship between the ACF, itself an incorporated association, and its affiliates. The operation of those provisions has no dependence on membership nor does their operation require any kind of contract.

I had thought that discussions between you and the ACF President that have taken place since your letter would have clarified that matter.

The simple fact is that the ACF has imposed a levy on Affiliated Associations in accordance with its constitutional powers and CV is obliged to pay its levied amount.

So The ACF sent the President to "talk" with the CV Treasurer, and now the lad is simply supposed to hand over almost five grand of CV's money to the ACF?

I guess David is just a bit slow on the uptake, but don't worry Denis - after convincing him that contract law is not applicable, and that the ACF has a devine right to any sum of money they ask Chess Victoria to pay, I reckon eventually David will just catch on and stop asking so many questions.

ps - LL.B. is supposed to be capitalized, with a period both before and after the B, in case they didn't teach you that in law school.

It appears Mr Green is doing a Jack Lang who was sacked by the NSW Governor for refusing loans back to GB when Aussies was starving. I did realise that the Victorian chess community were so impoverished.

Spiny Norman: Hey JAK ... many VIC players are involved ... if people dig their heels in and the issue doesn't get resolved, many will be affected. Its absolutely appropriate for folk such as myself (who hold an official position with a CV-affiliated chess club) to get involved and put forward our opinions. However I would encourage all to make those opinions known directly to the parties involved, not by complaining on a public bulletin board. Send CV or ACF an email or a letter!

Spiny is caught in a difficult spot because his best mates are in the ACF, so he cannot speak out against Bill's threats like Ian Rogers did. At the same time, as a Victorian chess player, he knows that CV is going to get hosed here and he feels powerless to do anything about it. Hence the ridiculous, 'everyone please work together and be friends, nonsensical approach.'

Question

Just wondering, did Chess Victoria ever pay these fees to the ACF?

We all know we have to pay our local government land rates otherwise council will not process our development applications. (I just like picking on Moz)

Just noticed this one by a/c.

First of all are you implying that I have fleas or that I am a pest - well I dont have dogs or cats coz I am a responsible greenie near a national park. And I only kill cats not feed them.

Now dont get me angry talking about bloody non-toxic green pest control. I used a supposed guy like that to do white ant control. The bastard charged me a fortune for putting a few baits in and monitoring them and then do reports to me whilst I in sydney. I told them I dont want any of this bullshit - so I did not pay him and got a decent guy to come and spray the place. what rip off wanker

I noticed you did everything except answer the query re CV fees? NO wonder Bill hounded you out of the place

Ask Sobriquet or even better someone from the CV committee! I know fees have been paid, but is good to have an official announcement rather than hearsay crap!
