Exclamation ACF Takes Formal Ownership of Chess Chat!

I just did a registration look up for the Chess Chat website.

It appears the website is now legally owned by the Australian Chess Federation, and is no longer owned by Karth-ick.

The results from a Whois search are below. How perplexing that this was not reported in the ACF newsletter.

When a site is given "official site" status, it receives the kiss of death. It loses all credibility for being an open forum, free from bias or spin. The truth will be found elsewhere - @OZCHESS.

Now is the time to tell everyone to quit ChessChat. Let the ACF ChessChat Zombies cannibalise themselves in the necropolis that they made. If anyone gets a photograph of Billdog, Denis the Menise and Australia's most likely to be cuckolded, all eating each other's purulent brains, I want to see it.

OZ Chess is "The Independent" of chess in Australia. Shout it from the peaks.

Haha Classic.

Now they have to call it the official unoffical official Australian chess forum.
I bet Gletsos still claims that it is a "private" forum. Does that clown Rincewind remain the chief admin? I doubt it, I reckon Gletsos is the main man now.

cheers,

You mean you just changed it back???
Shows three modifications this month on the historical records and still shows ACF as owner on Whois.net - Domain Names as of now

Whois.net is behind the times.
Chess Chat - Australia's Premier Chess Forum - Powered by vBulletin has always been owned by ******** irrestective of what the whois data claims.

As Kevin said it was simply a registration error.

Must not have had enough coffee or something as that does not quite make sense.

So it was a registration error ??
So the person who has access to change it (and it shows as security locked so you would need to authenticate who you are to change it) accidentally typed in ACF instead of whatever was meant to be there.

Pretty dumb "registration error".

Also obviously shows that although Kart-hick may technically own it he is not actually the person in control of it.

BTW, I thought that only an "organisation" could use a dot org address. Isn't Karrthick a commercial enterprise - i.e. dot com. Isn't the ACF an organisation - i.e. dot org. Please help me to understand oddity of it all.

That question deserves an answer .
Maybe it's one of those registration errors .

Which reminds me of a joke ;
Why is a registration error like a terrorist ? They both can be found behind any standard home fixture.

You are thinging of .org.au where only an organisation can register. That is a local restriction imposed by the Aus Domain name authority.
Anyone can register a .org

Thanks Ax.

I think Ninja, a well respected chess dad in Victoria, hit the nail on the head. Registration errors of this type don't ordinarily happen. What is more plausible is that I blew the whistle, and someone immediately changed the WhoIs details once again, before Kar-thick found out what had happened.
