What the................?

Indeed, sad news.

Firgoat7 will be immensely missed on the Forum. Especially, his frank and constructive opinion/comments & suggestions to uplift the status of more young kids playing chess and the list goes on..............

Anyway, we all can hope that Fg7 might reconsider his decision at some point in time in future and return to OzChess as an Admn.

Good Luck Fg7.

That is not good advice. Until proven otherwise, all versions of Internet Exploder are highways to your computer. There's a fairly recent artical here where I tracked down a Microsoft fix and discovered that it fixed a hole whereby a website could be used to take over your computer without warning.

Very sobering, though I long expected it was the case.

Firefox is not perfect either, but it's less attacked and its authors are more proactive in fixing problems as they're found. And, it automatically checks regularly for updated versions which you can download and install.

Additionally, IE 6 and earlier are notoriously non-compliant with HTML standards. IE7 is better, and presumably IE8 better again, but conformance to standards has always been important to the Mozilla folk.

I agree, the post is a little dated. I use Mozilla Firefox mostly, Chrome was okay but limited in some ways.

By the way, welcome to OzChess Santa. So far I have really been enjoying your posts!

I was unaware that Kevin's hydra was banned. I don't recall banning it, but if I did I simply can't remember. However, what strikes me is how long your memory for these types of trivial things is Bill. I mean seriously mate, get a life and turn your computer off.

I am seriously contemplating getting a new flag mod for OzChess. Any thoughts about that?

I think I need to be told what a FLAG MOD is.

It puts a flag in your postbit, likely in the same area as the symbols where you can nominate a Post of the Month.

It's a moderator that deals with flagging disputes. Such as when someone checkmates another person who then calls time.

Thanks HBK.

I had no idea it was that.

Smile Forum Order Changed

I have changed the order of the forums, just for something new.

I am also giving serious thought to eliminating the Intro/POTM forum and simply expanding the Non-Chess forum. My only hang up regarding that is whether our discussion of the mismanagement by the moderators at Chess Chat is really discussion of chess or not. I am not sure that discussion of another chess forum is, strictly speaking, discussion of chess - although it would seem to be associated.

We have a new flag mod for the OzSmart skin. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but if you choose to - you can set your flag in the Options or Profile, after clicking the User CP button on the homepage.

Speaking of the user CP button, members might have noticed the QLINKS button is gone, and two other new buttons have replaced them.

Default Flag Mod

An update to the flag mod. As there had previously been a flag mod installed on OzChess, it was causing problems with the new flag mod. As such only new registering members can add their own flag.

Exisiting members can have a flag added but this has to be done through the Admin Control Panel, meaning you need to PM me telling me what flag you want added to your profile.

Also, there is a new PM icon in the postbit for all member (under the avatar). It will cut down a mouse click or two, allowing for easier private messaging

Hope everyone enjoys these new features.

Smile Avatar Sizes - Adjusted

Avatar sizes have been re-adjusted. Only a handful of members were affected, hopefully no one is too upset about it. It was necessary for site maintenance as it was causing template issues/problems.
