I think we should have an occasional culling of the shoutbox so it won't become overloaded like the Bright Side one did. Esp we have Axiom overloading it with hundreds of youtube links we are only asking for trouble. Remember this advice is coming from The Man who solved BrightSide SB problems.

As well it may be an incentive for Axiom not to post so many links and hydras.

Exclamation SEO Snake Oil

Its hilarious how many companies contact me via email and peddle their supposedly super dooper search engine optomization services. If these clowns took a moment to look, they'd see that for the main Google search terms:

(a) Chess Australia
(b) Australia Chess
(c) Chess in Australia; and
(d) Australian Chess Forum

We basically come in first through third, only behind the Australia Chess Federation for the first term - and always ahead of CC for these terms. For just the generic term 'Chess Forum', we come on on page 4. CC comes in on page 5.

So considering we are basically number one in terms of SEO, its hard to think what these companies really have to offer us.

Default Forum Post Stat Comparisons

I see Kevin has wasted a lot of time tallying irrelevant statistics on the other forum. But one which seems to have escaped his attention, perhaps intentially, is this.

Their top ten largest threads by post count are as follows:

All threads

146284 Does God exist?
93238 cricket
91252 Hobart International Chess Club
90966 Photo caption contest
76657 American Elections and Politics
73155 Moderation: questions, discussion and completely pointless whinging*
73142 Football - Soccer
72032 The Great Global Warming Swindle
70722 What song are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
69307 Moderation rules and decisions

By comparison our top ten are:

Events at Box Hill Chess Club 587
Bullying on Chess Chat 520
New CV Executive 460
Info Wars 459
Feedback and Requests 453
Best 100 Songs Ever 403
Time Out For Members 383
Chess Puzzles for the... 354
Double Standards on ChessChat 314
Rating Systems 305

As we can see, only one of their top ten threads actually relates to Australian chess, whereas on our forum - four of our top ten threads relate to Australian chess. Therefore the proportion of chess related content on our forum, at least on a per capita basis, is higher than on their forum where mostly non-chess topic threads dominate to over inflate their post per day stats.
