i note the new thread for public complaints at Open Moderation Policy on OzChess
i note with disapproval the publication of an email address in that thread and request that the email address be edited out publishing someone's email address on an open forum solely on account of them filing a moderation complaint is gross incompetence a beginner's blunder in forum administration/moderation often a severe breach of privacy shouldn't happen fortunately i anticipated this sort of thing would happen and hence deliberately used a temporary throwaway account to sign up lotlizard one that happens to be a non-private one so no actual damage is done but i hope that firegoat will learn not to post email addresses publicly in future Last edited by lotlizard : 07-30-2008 at 12:39 AM |

I think there are times in life when it becomes obvious what needs to be done.
As such, I am going to leave Kevin's fate entirely in Phild707's hands. If Phil thinks it is best to ban Kevin from OzChess permanently, or for a lesser period, I will immediately implement his decision. Best AO

While it is clear that there is some doubt as to whether Kevin's motives in posting on this board are not to some degree mischievous to say the least, I stop short of requesting that he be permanently banned from the site however... I refer him and yourself to my post 51 (General chess discussion> Civil War thread) where i wrote: "I disagree very strongly with posters rephrasing or reworking other people's comment as this is essentially putting words in a person's mouth (that they did not say). Will you please give an undertaking that you will take more care not to rehash other peoples comment? I feel that this is an important obstacle to our moving forward towards civilised discussion." and to my earlier post 32 in the same thread were i had also asked for such an undertaking. Also in this post the two instances of unaccetpable tactics by Kevin in this regard were cited. I regret to say that no such undertaking has been received hence I must request that Kevin, (and all his known/admitted aliases), be banned from posting on the OZChess forum forthwith for a period of 2 days. Regards Phil.

I regret to advise that Kevin Bonham has been given a 48 hour time out for putting words into other peoples mouths and for not accepting the cordial undertaking offered to him by another member to desist in doing so in the future. Best AO

So many applicable quotes:
"Maybe there is a beast....maybe it's only us." "Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!" "after all we aren't savages really..." "We've got to have rules and obey them. After all, we're not savages. We're English, and the English are best at everything." or... "The only trouble was that he would never be a very good chess player." |
