Default Open Moderation Policy on OzChess

Regarding Member Complaints

Ozchess is trialling an open complaint registration process. Instead of moderating posters, we aim to foster on this site, democratic expression within the guidelines of social accountability. We wish to actively encourage all posters to regulate each other. Please remember- This civil process is available for everybody. If you object to any complaint placed on this sticky feel free to express your opinion in a thread, but remember, provide a link to the original source.

Complaint list July 2008

lotlizard ( mailto:lotlizard@mailinator.com ) has reported this post:

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?p=7633#post7633

This is part of this thread:
Intimidation Reigns Supreme at CC

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?t=606

This is the reason that the user gave:
I report this post for "uncivility" as I myself have recently been suspended
(again) for "uncivility" that is no worse than what occurs in this post.

This post employs the uncivil term "perverse" with no reason to do so as my reply
demonstrates.

This post furthermore suggests I am experiencing a "meltdown" (a highly pejorative
term intended to suggest mental collapse) but the factual basis for that claim is
demonstrably spurious and hypocritical as my reply indicates.

The uncivility of the post is aggravated by the poster making such uncivil comments and then
suggesting we "move on".

This is one of very many uncivil posts by this user recently, another example being the
user's repost of his phd hanger on garbage which he has now admitted to be false.

Furthermore many cases in which I was accused of uncivility (in some cases leading to bans)
were in response to clearcut uncivility by this user.

I request that user Phild707 be banned for two weeks without any consultation with that user
about the banning.

This message has been sent to all moderators of this forum, or all administrators if there
are no moderators.

Please respond to this post as applicable.

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?p=759post7592

This is part of this thread:
Intimidation Reigns Supreme at CC

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?t=606

This is the reason that the user gave:
This post is "uncivil". It falsely suggests that a reply I made may have been
evasive when it was not. Furthermore it falsely accuses me of misquoting, which I did not
do. It is one of very many uncivil posts made by this user recently and I request that this
user be suspended for a substantial period without consultation with that user. Uncivility
is supposedly a moderation offence on this site so I look forward to my request being agreed
to.

This message has been sent to all moderators of this forum, or all administrators if there

Please respond to this post as applicable.
3.
lotlizard ( mailto:lotlizard@mailinator.com ) has reported this post:

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?p=6275#post6275

This is part of this thread:
OzChess's Inferno Shout Pro Shoutbox!

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?t=478

This is the reason that the user gave:
This post is defamatory, abusive and uncivil. It makes assertions concerning my career that
the poster has conceded are unflattering and has also now conceded are false. However, that
concession was on another thread and does not appear on this one.

The accusations are defamatory in the following ways:
* the post suggests, through the use of the word "tolerated", that I am
semi-unwelcome at my university. This accusation has no basis in fact
* the post accuses me of bludging lifts to get to free meals and generally freeloading off
friends. This is false.
* the post suggests that those I consider to be "friends" are not really friends
but simply people I bludge off. This is false.
* the post implies (through an example) that I lack personal growth through being stuck in
an academic environment. Quite aside from the lack of any logical connection between these
two things, the claim is false as I am not stuck in such an environment at all.

I request that this post be deleted, and the user be warned that if he makes false and
hostile claims about me in the future without making an adequate attempt to check his facts
then he will be banned.

This message has been sent to all moderators of this forum, or all administrators if there
are no moderators.

Please respond to this post as applicable.

lotlizard ( mailto:lotlizard@mailinator.com ) has reported this post:

Kevin Bonham's McJob

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?p=6277#post6277

This is part of this thread:
OzChess's Inferno Shout Pro Shoutbox!

http://ozchess.com.au/showthread.php?t=478

This is the reason that the user gave:
This post is defamatory and uncivil. Based on a severe misinterpretation of an email seen
by Matthew Sweeney it falsely suggests that I am waiting for my parents to die so I can
accomplish financial goals - an accusation that is certainly derogatory and is also absolute
nonsense, especially as:

* my parents are in their early 60s and in excellent health as AO has previously been
advised
* I have no financial goals (although a spare million dollars or so so I could bankrupt
everyone who writes such drivel about me wouldn't go astray!)

The author of the post should have checked the facts behind the Sweeney claim before
recycling Sweeney's unfactual claims.

This message has been sent to all moderators of this forum, or all administrators if there
are no moderators.

Please respond to this post as applicable.

Au revoir

Hi Guys,

Matt And Alex, this thread is a sticky. As such its probably not desirable to interact and post within it.

The idea was to publish all complaints from all members. I presume there will be future complaints from various members. Can we split the thread and move the debating to another thread?

cheers Fg7

I thought I already did, but it is difficult to reconcile all the threads which intertwine a lot of the same subject matter. I am open to suggestions on how I may be able to do this better.

Best

Hi,

Guys this thread is a sticky not a thread. I have therefore taken the liberty of deleting a few replies. If you really feel strongly about your post I can create a new thread to place them in. So let me know via pm if you desire this option.

cheers Fg7

I am pretty easy going on this and don't really care one way or the other, but I think maybe it would be a good idea to have an open thread for general duscussion of moderation decisions. Unfortunately I can't seem to think of a good title.

Best Regards,

AO

I wish to make a complaint to the moderation team about anti-Christmas's avatar. I do not believe that avatars intended to denigrate religious figures should be acceptable on this forum.

As I no longer handle the moderation on OzChess (thankfully), this complaint if directed to the moderators Jaydon, LMatheson, and Heartbreak Kid.

Absolutely. Not acceptable in this forum, rather should not be allowed in any forum due to the nature and content of the profile picture. This is something which should not be displayed to the masses.

Thumbs down Flame Wars in the Shoutbox

Flame Wars in the Shoutbox

Its come to my attention that there have been flame wars in the shoutbox lately. The moderators would probably prefer not to have to deal with it the same way a policeman would probably prefer not to have to break up fights.

In this regard, I would ask people if they want to have flame wars in the shoutbox, to at least have it by way of private shouts so everyone else doesn't have to see or hear about whether 9/11 was a hoax or the real deal, and other such topics that most people could care less about, etc.

A Reminder:

Anyone can send a private shout by clicking the person's name in the shoutbox and then typing your shout to them. The letters [PM] will appear evidencing that the shout is only visable between the person who made it and the recipient who you clicked in the shoutbox.

Thanks everyone for the cooperation.

except when confronted by a deceitful zombie judas publicly , and a tyrannical mod who i have experienced first hand the results of their tyranny .
Ozchess stands for public free speaking and the defence of justice !

Confronting tyranny and treachery publicly on occasion will not be silenced at ozchess i sincerely hope .

Let them feel the burn of the hot white light exposing their dark practices.

One does not need a potty mouth to confront injustice! Did Nelson Mandela confront tyranny with the F word?
But we love you anyway Ax
Default brainwashed and deluded

What do you expect from ax , l simply told some truths about him which
he cant stand .His a very deceptive character in pursuit of ideologies he
stands for . If you question anything he does, he launches at you with
his abuse and constant dribble likeAlex jones stands for . Most of sites he gets his info from and copies and paste brilliantly
are left-wing nutty or dont fully represent mainstream opinions
The only zombie brainwashed and deluded one here is ax, but he cant
confront truth about inner demons in himself . So its hard to believe any
credible stories he posts without back ground check . Do we know where
story come from ? can we trust this site? fair questions dont you think
