Subject: youth camp in Dresden
Hi all,
Australia has been invited to send 3 juniors to Dresden to take part in a youth camp running parallel to the Olympiad.
Key information
Start date 15th November
Finish 22nd November
All food and accommodation and activity cost covered by organiser
Age group 16 to 20
Need to know ASAP
Still trying to get exact details of program
No requirement to be a strong chess player. J - see attached info
Sounds like a great idea, apart from cost, for Australian kids to travel there although the timing is not so good with end of the year exams etc. Please could you let juniors in your state know as soon as possible and if anyone is interested to contract me ASAP. In the unlikely event that we get more than 3 juniors interested in going, we would have to do some sort of quick selection.
Please contact me if you require any further information.
Regards
Jenni

The Chess Olympiad is one of the most significant
events in the world of chess and one of the greatest
sport events in the world with 150 nations participating
in it. As long as for 20 days the best chess players of the
world will contest for medals and for first time in the
history of the Chess Olympiad you can be there and
take part in it!
The International Youth Camp of the Chess Olympiad
will give you the opportunity to experience very closely
the Chess Olympiad together with 60 other young
people from all over the world and to look over the
shoulders of the stars playing their matches.
But the youth camp is even more than that!
You will get acquainted to different cultures and people
from all parts of the world and you will experience a lot
with them. In addition to this, we want to show you the
world-famous city of Dresden with its historic buildings
and places and also the capital city of Germany being
Berlin. Be ready for a diversified and amazing special
free-time-programme where you can take part in a lot
of activities.
With other young people and professional youthcoaches
of the German Chess-Youth you will stay at
the A&O Hotel in the city of Dresden, which is closely
situated to the venue of the Chess Olympiad.
Chess players between 16 and 20 years of age are
invited. It is not important to us, that you are especially
good at the game of chess. More than this, it is important
that you are curious about other people, are creative
and politically interested, and that you can understand
and speak English.
The expenses for accommodation and board and the
complete free-time-programme will be covered by the
German Chess Youth. You only have to pay for your own
travel expenses.
Do you want to take part in the International Youth
Camp of the Chess Olympiad? If so, please contact your
national chess federation. We are interested in a short
description about your person, about any activities you
enjoy in your free time besides playing chess, and would
like to know why you want to participate in the youth
camp.
Good luck to you!
Do you have any questions about the application or the
participation in the Youth camp? If so, please contact the
