Kramnik may surprise us with his opening choice as black. These days Ruy Lopez Marshall attack has become a good choice for securing a draw. Even Aronian uses it with great success most of the time.

However, if he uses Petroff then Anand will need to find a novelty or two.
I don't know what Anand will play as black, but probably the Nimzo/Queen's Indian because this us the universal choice at top level these days.

Also, Grunfeld would be a good choice and all world championship matches have witnessed this opening at least once. Does anyone have any information about who the seconds will be for either Kramnik or Anand in the upcoming match?
