The best moves Black has at this point are futile, so Howard cannot be blamed for stuffing up an already stuffed up position.
And the final dagger through the heart was Rook to a8, at which point, to his credit, Howard civily resigned and said good game.
I also wish to note that Howard, several times during the game, went outside to smoke cigarettes! This, despite his repeated, annoying, little dancing man on CC stating that he was 6 months smoke free, or messages along those lines. As such, he smelled worse than an ashtray.
Now I ask, why should I, a non-smoker, have to smell those noxious fumes emanating from my opponent? Where is the fairness? Accordingly, I can perfectly understand when Phil complained about the lack of foot hygene of a certain Tasmanian chess player who disrupted his game.
