People playing on in almost lost positions is pretty common in my neck of the woods.
For the record, I don't like it either, but I think that those said people tend to get preoccupied with the word "almost" and of course they are within the hallowed fide rules to do so.
I dont believe that the term "good manners" appears in those rules which is regrettable, I agree.
