Thanks Ax for recusitating this thread. I have read other accounts on this same issue. Even an Aust Anglican bishop a few years ago came out and said that his church during WW2 offered Jews a safehaven in Aust but was rejected by Jew hierachy - no they must go to Palestine(where here were not particularly welcome and did not have clearly defined or accepted rights).
