FACT 2. We don't know yet who that somebody is.

Fact 3. This example is almost the same as Phil707's complaint on Chesschat.

Fact 4. There has already been moral outrage directed towards Ozchess about this incident on Chesschat.

Question? Is it morally and ethically consistent for people on Chesschat to attack Phil707 and defend your disappointment with a post here Phil?

I think not.

You may be right, but this incident is still independently interesting. The person responsible may have been conducting an intellectual challenge. I hope that if they apologise you won't think to bad of them.

I don't agree with this statement. I don't think the administrators have done anything wrong. They took the registration in good faith. But I do hope they resolve the conflicting situation in a way that satisfies you.

FG7,
1 Correct

2 We may never know.

3 Not quite, it is a facility on this board that anyone can post as an unregistered user, using whatever name they like. Robert J Fischer may yet make another internet appearance

4 ?

Question. Two wrongs never make a right.

Yes, it is interesting as there are any number of possible explanations as to why someone would wish to act in this manner. Whether or not I accept any apology, though I doubt any will ever happen, would depend on those reasons and what validity I felt they held.

The administrators never took any registration. Try it for yourself, log in as a guest, and post as an unregistered user, you will see that you can put any name you like in the account name. This is a serious flaw, it leaves the board open to any number of methods of attack mentionable. Most experienced hackers could soon program a bot capable of writing enough nonsensical posts
to send this forum spiralling into internet history. If that is an acceptable risk according to management, then I for one won't feel any sympathy if any such event should happen.
