If you think 1.Bg3 or 1.Bf4 to be the key, then you really have to find something against black's plan 1...Be2 and 2...Kg2. (I'm not saying there is one)
BTW note the role of white pawns d4 and g5. Should one of them be missing, then 1.Bg3 Be2 2.Ng5+ (or Nd4+) Kg1 3.Nh3#( or Nxe2 ) would solve.
This problem is very hard, I keep trying but cannot solve it!
