There is no room for "might" - It is already happening, the government is gaining more and more control over our daily lives by the day with new laws and technology. But if you think about it, the government already has a heck of a lot of power over their citizens. In some places, like the USA, you can even be put to death by the state. How much more power can be conferred to a government beyond that?
